High-Tech Hearing Aid

A high-tech hearing device is changing the lives of people who can barely hear. Doctors surgically implant small titanium screws behind each ear. The screws are then attached to special hearing aids. Instead of sending sound through the ear canal, the sound goes directly through the skull into the cochlea. This specialized hearing aid isn't recommended for everyone. It helps people with damage to their middle ears or people with chronic ear infections.
