A TEENAGER who works with special needs children has received her Duke of Edinburgh Gold award.
Jenny Jones, 18, of Cumberland Avenue, Fixby, learned sign language to help deaf youngsters as part of her work.
Jenny, who completed the scheme in just a year, received her award from Prince Philip at St James's Palace, London.
Jenny, a former Rastrick High School pupil, took part in a gruelling four-day expedition in the Lake District.
She has also helped 11-year-olds on an outdoor pursuits trip, learned trampolining and is a young leader at Guides.
Jenny has previously gained a Millennium Volunteers award for 200 hours' service to the community.
"The DoE award has helped me learn many skills," she said.
