Bishop William Murphy will ordain 16 men as permanent deacons for the Diocese of Rockville Centre at a ceremony on Saturday, May 18th at 11am at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre. Each of the 16 men has completed four years of study at Immaculate Conception Seminary in Huntington.

The deacons include John P. Audia whose parish is Maria Regina of Seaford.

Audia is recently retired from the Department of Sanitation in the Town of Oyster Bay. An active member of his parish, Maria Regina in Seaford, he coordinates the alter server schedule, works in the after school program there as well as hospital ministry and serves as an interpreter for the deaf at Sunday Mass. He studied sign language as a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council. The Sign of the Cross. It is the first deaf council to belong to the Knights of Columbus.

Audia is a Long Island native who graduated from Plainedge High School in North Massapequa. He has a stepson and two daughters with his wife Beatrice.
