First lady Andree Lahoud on Thursday handed a visiting delegation from the Lebanese-Canadian Hospital a check to cover the expenses of a young girl’s ear surgery.
Carine Keyrouz needs a cochlear implant in order to hear, and Lahoud said she wished to provide financial assistance to secure the operation.
The first lady also agreed to attend the surgery, and promised Keyrouz’s parents that she would follow the girl’s progress until she recovers her hearing.
Lahoud said her initiative was a humanitarian step that would allow Keyrouz to return to a normal life.
Doctors Pierre Nawfal and Bernard Wanna are expected to carry out the operation with the help of a team of specialists from abroad.
