GREEN LIGHT FOR SMASH OAP

A PENSIONER who smashed up five cars, a bus and a camper van with her car will be back on the road.

Hard-of-hearing Annie Dunlop, 76, caused a pile-up by slamming down her accelerator instead of the brake.

She claimed she couldn't hear the engine whining because she had forgotten to switch on her hearing aid.

Yesterday at Perth Sheriff Court, Sheriff Ian Inglis was given an assessmet by the Bristish School of Driving on Dunlop's driving.

He said: "The examiner said your overall performance did not give them cause for concern."

The sheriff imposed nine penalty points on her licence and fined her £150.
