ALVADORE — A deaf man has been charged with killing his recently widowed mother at the mobile home they shared in Lane County, police said.
Blake Leon Admire, 43, fired more than one shot at his 66-year-old mother, Christine Joanne Admire, Lane County sheriff’s Sgt. Matt Keetle said Tuesday. Her body was found in the living room, he said.
Blake Admire called 911 shortly before 4 a.m. using a TTY communication device for hearing impaired people, investigators said.
Dispatchers had trouble understanding his typed messages but eventually realized there was a problem with his mother, that he had a gun and that he was sorry, Keetle said.
When deputies arrived, Admire agreed to put down his weapon and cooperate. Using sign language and written messages, he told deputies that he had killed his mother, Keetle said.
Admire was charged with intentional murder and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Lane County Circuit Court. He was being held in the Lane County Jail without bail late Tuesday.
No information was released about a possible motive. They think the shooting happened shortly before Admire called police, Keetle said.
