SDH Technology to Its DVD Catalog

NEW ALMADEN, CA—Leading gay and lesbian home video retailer Wolfe Video has announced a November 26th release date for the DVD debut of one its most popular catalog titles, the lesbian comedy EVERYTHING RELATIVE, which pre-books on October 29th. With this release, Wolfe Video introduces SDH technology to its DVD catalog so the deaf and hard-of-hearing audience may enjoy the finest in gay and lesbian cinema. After its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 1996, Sharon Pollack’s EVERYTHING RELATIVE played to enthusiastic audiences at gay and lesbian film festivals across North America, followed by a limited theatrical release in major metropolitan markets. Hailed by Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times as “One of the best lesbian films yet,” EVERYTHING RELATIVE charts the reunion of eight women who ran a street theatre group in the 70s. When two of the women have a baby, the gang convenes at their Northampton home for the bris. Amidst softball, skinny-dipping, and still-smoldering sexual secrets, the women discover how their lives, loves and politics have changed over the years. The film stars Ellen McLaughlin (“Angels in America”), Olivia Negron and Stacy Nelkin (BULLETS OVER BROADWAY), and features a special appearance by Harvey Fierstein (Broadway’s “Hairspray”).

The DVD release of EVERYTHING RELATIVE will have closed captioning using SDH technology (“Subtitled for the deaf and hearing-impaired”). Wolfe President Maria Lynn notes, “This is a first for Wolfe Video, and we hope to add this to future releases. We have received numerous requests from our customers to include closed captioning, and we are so pleased to make our films more accessible in this manner.” In addition to the SDH technology, the DVD edition EVERYTHING RELATIVE includes a selection of bonus features. Fans of the film can now enjoy a commentary track by director Sharon Pollack and outtakes from the film.
