From: St. Louis Business Journal, MO - 30 Dec 2002
Central Institute for the Deaf has received $10,000 from the St. Louis Variety Club for its Audiological Support Program.
The funds will be used to buy loaner equipment including hearing aids, cords and microphone headsets as well as to provide programming sessions for children with cochlear implants.
CID said about 70 percent of its students use cochlear implants, which require frequent programming to provide the optimal benefit. The implants also need frequent repair and maintenance, the school said.
The St. Louis Variety Club provides funding to help disabled and disadvantaged children.
Central Institute for the Deaf provides oral education, research and professional education.
