Disabled Youths Stage Sports Day

As part of activities marking World Disability Day the National Union of Disabled Youths (NUDY) staged a mass sports competition recently at the Serrekunda West Mini stadium.
The main highlight of the event were football matches . In the opening match, The Gambia Organisation for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (GODHOH) football team beat NUDY 3-1.
Other activities include bicycle race tricycle race, Wheelchair race and a Goalball match competitions for the blind.
Speaking to Observer Sports, the president of NUDY, Mr Ebrima Dibbasey said the day is not only important in the development of sports in The Gambia, it is also a demonstration that disability does not mean inability.
The occasion was witnessed by government officials as well as disabled association officials.
