Police Impersonator Behind Bars

From: WFIE-TV, IN - 30 Dec 2002

Indiana State Police had an impersonator on their hands, but now, the trickster is behind bars.

State police say 25-year-old Robert Bumgardner of Bloomington made a phone call to a Vanderburgh County man, claiming he was a trooper, and that the man must turn himself into police. Bumgardner is hearing impaired, so troopers were able to trace the call through the telephone device for the deaf used to make the call.

Bumgardner is being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail on a $5,000 bond. No word on motive.
