Slaying charge tossed

ALCOA - Charges in a Thanksgiving night slaying have been dismissed.

Steven Lynn Davis, 20, of Maryville was charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Justin Finnelly, 18, of Knoxville during an altercation in Alcoa. The charges were dismissed Thursday during a hearing in sessons court.

Witnesses, including a fifth-grade student at the Tennessee School for the Deaf, told police Davis acted in self-defense.
