THE Victoria Government has awarded Brisbane agency Advertising Depot the tender for the Deaflympic Games to be held in Melbourne in 2005.

The Deaflympics are officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and provides opportunities for deaf people to participate in elite sports on an international level.

Due to run from January 6–16 the Games are expected to attract athletes from over 90 countries.

Advertising Depot will initially create the identity for the Deaflympics along with material to promote the Melbourn Games at the 2003 Winter Deaflympics in Sweden in February 2003.

Advertising Depot’s experience in the sports arena has included creating identities for major events and event sponsors including the recent creation of the Castlemaine XXXX 2003 Rugby World Cup and World Sevens logo.

It has also produced campaigns for many companies including those providing services for Deaf, hearing and speech impaired persons such as Australian Communication Exchange (ACE), Siemens Hearing Instruments and the Australian Association of the Deaf.
