From: Internet Wire (press release) - 07 Jan 2003
Award-Winning Communications Platform for Business and Education Features Higher Resolution Media, Real-Time Text Captioning, and Support for Multiple Presenters
SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (INTERNET WIRE) -- 01/07/2003 -- MacWorld Booth #3631 -- In a move that supercharges online communications for corporate and educational applications everywhere, Caststream, Inc. today launched cast:stream 2, its enterprise-level presentation delivery system featuring a new, more comprehensive feature set based upon its unique cross-platform architecture. The only cross-platform broadcasting solution that customers can run on their own IT infrastructure, cast:stream 2 originates, manages, and delivers streaming video and audio presentations with synchronized graphics, animation, and interactivity. Presentations can be delivered live or on-demand over local area, wide area, and WiFi networks, as well as over the public Internet, and from local media such as hard disk, CD-ROM, and DVD-ROM.
With support for broadcasting over 80 different rich, interactive, and immersive media formats, cast:stream 2 offers the high-resolution capabilities required to meet the demands of graphics-intensive applications such as medical imaging and corporate training. cast:stream 2 introduces support for text captioning of slides during both live and on-demand presentations, providing significantly improved access for users with disabilities.
“cast:stream 2 represents a logical evolution of our core communications platform that meets the demands of our rapidly-increasing customer base in business and education markets,” said Jim Baker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Caststream, Inc. “The addition of key new features such as larger slide media and text captioning, as well as overall improvements in performance and functionality, means that cast:stream 2 can reach even more viewers, while opening the door to new levels of collaboration and productivity. With this new release, cast:stream now truly epitomizes the interactive learning and communication capabilities of the Internet.”
cast:stream 2 allows multiple presenters, or 'moderators,' to share control of a single broadcast from any location with an Internet connection. Moderators can not only exchange control of the slide media and polling components of a cast:stream broadcast, but can also record the transcript of instant messaging traffic, for later review. Additional new cast:stream features include the ability to more easily embed a live URL link within a slide, and an increase in the number of live viewers who may watch a presentation on a single server.
Shipping during Q1 2003, cast:stream 2 for Windows and MacOS is available from Caststream, Inc., and through a network of value added resellers. For more information, call 818-762-6264 or visit www.caststream.com.
