Goodwill buys man new bike after clerk accidentally sells his
From: WOOD-TV, MI - 18 Jan 2003
(Owosso-AP, January 18, 2003, 6:35 p.m.) Goodwill has bought a new bike for a man whose prized 1958 Schwinn was sold by one of their employees. Rodney Pruitt had parked the bicycle outside the store on December 18th before going in to shop. A clerk at the store east of Owosso sold it for less than $5. The bike was the only form of transportation for the 38-year-old, who is blind in one eye and deaf without his hearing aid.
Goodwill settled the matter by purchasing the new bike for $138. Pruitt says he'll reimburse the store if someone returns his bike. The owner of an Owosso bicycle shop says Pruitt's old bike was worth about $200.
