SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Despite having a first quarter as chilly as the weather, Iowa School for Deaf trounced South Dakota School for Deaf 79-28 Thursday afternoon.
"We came out sluggish, somewhat cold" said Bobcat coach Dan Grodoville. "We finally heated up in the two middle quarters, and our second unit totally play the last quarter."
Six-foot-8 junior Edlin Dorn put up a triple-double to lead the way for the Bobcats, scoring 30 points, pulling down 15 boards and blocking 11 shots in the contest.
"Eldin is not only tall," said Gradoville, "but he is a very atheletic player."
Nic Upchurch had 16 points and 17 rebounds and freshman Eric Humlicek had five assists to go along with his 17 points.
"Both Nic and Eric played very nice games," said Gradoville.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, as they host Kansas Deaf in a 2:30 p.m. contest in the second half of a boys/girls doubleheader at the Lied Center.
