Superintendent of school for deaf in Vancouver resigns
From: Katu.com, OR - 22 Jan 2003
VANCOUVER - The superintendent of a school for the deaf in Vancouver has resigned after repeated complaints he has not done enough to solve problems of sexual abuse at the school.
For years, there have been reports of rapes, molestation and sexual harassment at the Washington School for the Deaf.
With problems mounting, board members began pushing Governor Gary Locke to remove the school's superintendent, Lon Aron.
Now, Aron has handed in his own resignation, and according to Gov. Locke's spokesperson, it has been accepted by the governor.
