Deborah DeStefano Appointed to Head Office of Enrollment Services

Washington, DC?Deborah DeStefano was recently appointed executive director of the Office of Enrollment Services (OES) at Gallaudet University. She replaced Astrid Goodstein who retired after 35 years of service at Gallaudet. DeStefano has been serving as director of Gallaudet?s Office of Admissions for the past 10 years which is a unit of OES.

After earning her bachelor?s degree in 1977 and a master?s degree in 1979, DeStefano became assistant dean of student life at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf and later promoted to assistant principal.

During her tenure as director of the Office of Admissions, Gallaudet?s enrollment steadily grew to its present level of about 325 new students annually. The academic quality of new students also increased significantly.

In her new position as executive director of OES, DeStefano will also be responsible for the Financial Aid Office, Registrar, Admissions, and Outreach Programs (which encompasses the Academic Bowl) and Publications.
