Eveready settles patent suit with Rayovac

Eveready Battery Co. Inc., a division of Energizer Holdings, settled a lawsuit it filed against Rayovac Corp.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Madison, Wis.-based Rayovac said the patent infringement suit filed in April 2001 was dismissed, but did not disclose terms of the settlement. It did say, however, it included the settlement in its results of operations for the first quarter ended Dec. 29.
An Energizer spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.
Rayovac (NYSE: ROV) manufactures general alkaline batteries, hearing aid batteries and zinc-carbon household batteries.
St. Louis-based Energizer Holdings Inc. (NYSE: ENR) manufactures batteries and flashlights.
