Ex-Waikato mum found

The former Waikato woman reported missing in Australia has been found.

Northern Territory police said the 26-year-old partially deaf woman hitched south from Darwin and then caught a bus to Alice Springs. Caroline Grimes is believed to be heading for Victoria.

Last week she walked from a Darwin camping ground leaving her partner and 5-month-old daughter behind.

"Truck drivers who gave her a lift believe she wants to go to Victoria, although she didn't say much. She seemed to be in reasonable spirits," Detective Senior Sergeant Jeanette Kerr said. "We still have concerns for her welfare until we can speak to her."
