Shawn Dale Barnett

Shawn Dale Barnett, 39, accepted Jesus as his personal savior and went home to be with him on Feb. 23, 2003. He was born April 30, 1963, in Leavenworth.

He graduated from Kansas School for the Deaf in 1981. He attended college for the deaf in Big Springs, Texas.

He married his high school sweetheart, Linda, and they later divorced and he married Betsy.

He had a career as a deaf drummer and developed a method of teaching deaf children to enjoy music.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Stuart Barnett. He is survived by his parents, James and Ruth Barnett, of Leavenworth; one sister, Sherry Poundstone, of Reno, Nev.; brother, Scott, of Winchester, and brother, Steve, of California.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. today, Feb. 25, 2003, at the Mount Muncie Cemetery. Pastor Darold Bunce of New Hope Assembly Church officiated.
