Please Help!. Birkdale School For Hearing Impaired Children is under threat of closure by Easter 2003. This flagship school, located in Southport, Merseyside, UK,  faces closure as a result of the UK Education's Secretary, David Blunkett's new initiative to place children into mainstream education. As a result specialist schools for disabled children are being closed down. 
   Birkdale has a long tradition of advocating the use of Oral communication in teaching deaf children. If you feel that you can help save Birkdale from closure, you can obtain a petition by e-mailing Tony Wright at twright@lineone.net.
