Still no trace of missing NZ mum

From: Stuff, New Zealand - 07 Feb 2003

SYDNEY: Northern Territory police yesterday failed to make any progress in finding missing New Zealand woman Caroline Grimes who vanished after walking from a Darwin camping ground on Monday.

A public appeal for sightings of the deaf 26-year-old had so far drawn a blank, although police were yesterday able to confirm Ms Grimes did not have her passport or any personal possessions with her when she left the Overland Caravan Park about 9am.

Ms Grimes, who lived at the camp with her partner and five-month-old daughter, was last seen crossing a road from the park to a truck stop.

Her disappearance was considered out of character for Ms Grimes who had never left her baby before.

Police are continuing their public appeal and are still treating Ms Grimes disappearance as a missing persons inquiry.

Ms Grimes, who is originally from the Waikato, had lived in Darwin for about two years.
