March 14-20
NEW MOPIX FILM THIS WEEK, NEW STUDIO
AGENT CODY BANKS, starring Frankie Muniz (of TV's MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE), debuts in this week select theaters equipped with Rear Window Captioning and DVS Theatrical systems. This marks the first film released with captions and descriptions from MGM Studios. Take a moment to write us a note when you see this film with the access features... we'll send it along to MGM and let them know their efforts to make their films accessible are appreciated (and likely they will send more your way)!
OUR NUMBER ONE QUESTION
What can I do to get closed captioned and described films closer to my home? We've assembled the phone numbers and addresses of the headquarters of major theater chains-- let them know you're eager to see accessible films, eat their popcorn and be a regular customer. And do write to us, access@wgbh.org, so we can connect you via e-mail or phone to other consumers in your area who want to advocate for more locations together. The link to the list of chains is

What can I do to get (insert name of much anticipated film or DVD here) released with captions and descriptions? Find out which studio is distributing the film/s you want to attend or the upcoming DVD release (info is available online at sites such as movies.com or just e-mail us and we'll figure it out). Write to the studio and let them know you're out there, and you're anxious to see their film/s. And if a studio has already released a film that you're disappointed is not accessible to you, let them know that as well. And while you're writing, send a word of thanks to the studios that do release accessible films (list of films and studios is always included in the update each week -- for example, CHICAGO = Miramax).
