Cochlear Implants Allow Wollforth Twins To Hear For First Time
From: KAMC, TX - Apr 18, 2003
Imagine being able to hear for the first time. That's what happened to one year old twins from Wolfforth this week.
Hunter and Haydn Corker were born with a profound hearing loss. But new technology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas helped them to hear for the first time. Thursday a cochlear implant was turned on.
The twins' parents say, 'They can now hear us say that we love them."
The devices have never been implanted in twins as young as Hunter and Hayden.
A cochlear implant bypasses the outer middle and inner ear and directly stimulates the inner ear's nerve fibers.
