Gallaudet Students Honored at President's Scholars Dinner
Washington, DC--Three hundred and seventy Gallaudet students, undergraduates and graduates, were honored for their outstanding academic achievements at the President's Scholars Dinner in the Gallaudet University Kellogg Conference Center on April 15, 2003.
President I. King Jordan welcomed the students, as well as a number of faculty and administrators who attended the dinner. In referring to the students, Dr. Jordan said, "You are not just students--you are student-scholars. At some point, you decided that just being a student--just getting by with Cs--wasn't good enough. Instead, you worked very hard and today your grade point average is outstanding. We are proud of your accomplishments." Last semester, 260 undergraduate students and 110 graduate students made the list.
To be placed on the Dean's List, freshmen and sophomores must have a 3.25 GPA while juniors and seniors must have a 3.5 GPA or above. To be named Cum Laude Scholars, students are required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or above. Magna Cum Laude requires a 3.6 GPA or higher and Summa Cum Laude scholars must achieve a 3.8 GPA or higher.
Toward the end of each fall and spring semester, the University recognizes and honors students who have achieved high academic standards.
