Crawford's bid to be among world's top mountain bikers

From: East Lothian Courier, UK - May 15, 2003

A profoundly deaf Dunbar man is looking to prove he is among the top mountain bikers in the world this season, as he sets out to improve his ranking of 23.

Despite only entering the sport in 1999, Crawford Carrick-Anderson, 33, of Kellie Place, is already the British number two and has made his mark on the world scene.

Before riding professionally he was a member of the British Alpine Ski Team from 1988 to 1992 and competed in the World Winter Games for the Deaf and the European Championships for the Deaf. He also competed at international level in motor bike trials before turning to mountain biking.
