Deaf warned of fire dangers

From: This Is Hertfordshire, UK - May 27, 2003

PEOPLE who are deaf or have impaired hearing are being targeted in a campaign to save them from the dangers of fire.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service launched Deaf Awareness Week, which is aimed at making sure everybody in the county is as safe as possible from fire.

The service already runs a project called Silent Waking that advises setting up several linked alarms to help those with impaired hearing and special devices such as a vibrating pad or a flashing light for the deaf.
