MOPIX ARRIVES IN A FIRST-RUN FLORIDA THEATRE!
Drum roll please... The AMC Altamonte Mall 18, in Altamonte Springs (outside of Orlando) has unveiled its brand new Rear Window Captioning and DVS Theatrical systems. We join with all those consumers in central Florida who say FINALLY! Actually, we join with them in thanking AMC for welcoming Floridians with hearing or vision loss back to the movies, and just in time for the theater to be a refuge from those scorching summer days.

MOPIX IN THE NEWS
Aaron Barnhart, reporter for The Kansas City Star, traveled to Omaha for the debut of the MoPix systems in that city. He wrote about the experience this past Sunday in an article entitled "Hearing the Big Picture: Accessibility Goes to the Movies." Here's the link if you'd like to read the article,
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/entertainment/columnists/aaron_barnhart/6246478.htm

ROADMAP TO MOVIE ACCESS
From an interview with Omaha's star advocate Bob Burns who raised half the money for a MoPix installation (AMC matched the funds), now available in text online at the MoPix site:

"The process came together so fast that I was astounded. When I began the drive for funding in late January I hoped we could have MOPIX by summer, and we managed to have it by May 1 for the X Men movie. It was very personally gratifying. When we had the dedication and I met Blind and Deaf children who had just gone to "Finding Nemo", and they and their parents were coming up to me to thank me, it was as great a thrill as I have ever had."
