MSP announces new service for deaf and hard of hearing
From: Buchan Observer, UK - Jul 31, 2003
BANFF and Buchan MSP Stewart Stevenson has announced a new service to help people who are deaf, deafened, deafblind or hard-of-hearing when meeting their MSP.
Commenting on the service, Mr Stevenson said:"It is all too easy to take our hearing for granted, therefore it is imperative that we are constantly reminded that there are many people who suffer from disadvantaged hearing or have no hearing at all.
"Hearing disadvantages can have a seriously negative impact on someone's day to day life.
"With the availability of this invaluable service, it will result in a greater inclusion for people with hearing difficulties. The service can be requested by an individual or group of people and can be utilised at the Parliament, constituency office or a local event. Sign language interpreters and communications support can be provided on request for any deaf, deafened, deafblind or hard of hearing person or group meeting their MSP. Constituents wishing to use the service should contact my office at 17 Maiden Street, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, AB42 1EE or (01779) 470444 for more information."
