DEAF WIN RAISES POT BLACK HOPES
From: Bristol Evening Post, UK - Aug 19, 2003
Bristol Deaf Sports, enjoying their best ever season in the Bristol and District Billiards League, had a shock victory over Chairmans Team. The win knocked Chairmans off the top of the table and allowed last season's champions Pot Black Club, 3-0 winners against Page Club, to leapfrog them.
Bristol Deaf Sports won their match by 209 points (500-291). Deaf 's Alex Davis beat David Smith by 102 points (250148) and his team-mate Gary Hughes earned victory over scratch player Ian McConnell by 107 points (250-143).
Pot Black, who looked out of the running last week after being a man short, now have a chance to retain their title.
They need to win their last fixture against St Edyths A and hope Rileys Club slip up in their remaining matches.
Page Club, who have not won a point since July 17, suffering four successive 3-0 defeats, dropped to the bottom of the table.
