MOTION PICTURE ACCESS (MoPix) NEWS
September 26-October 2

WARNER BROS. PICTURES ANNOUNCES MORE FILMS TO BE MOPIXED
See the ever-growing list (below) of future feature films to be made accessible. While a number of the titles indicate they will be closed captioned only, in fact the determination (by the studio) as to whether they will be described as well will come closer to the date of release. Want to weigh in on that decision? visit http://ncam.wgbh.org/mopix/studios.html for contact info for the major Hollywood studios.

ROADMAP TO MOVIE ACCESS
Read an interview with Omaha's star advocate Bob Burns who raised half the money for a MoPix installation (AMC Theatres matched the funds), now available in text online at the MoPix site: http://ncam.wgbh.org/mopix/roadmap.html

DESCRIBED TV PROGRAM NOTES
Tonight, Sept 25 marks the debut of the second season of description on television's highest-rated program, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION. CSI will air with description on CBS stations nationwide at 9PM (EST). Description funding is provided by CBS.

Tomorrow night, Sept 26, marks the debut of the second season of description on JAG. The show premieres at 9PM (EST). Description funding for this series is also provided by CBS.

PBS's THE BLUES, a seven-part series from executive producer Martin Scocese, will air on PBS stations over seven nights Sun Sept 28 to Sat Oct 3 from 9-11PM (EST). The entire program will be described (and closed captioned). Thanks to Volkswagen for sponsorship of description, and the U.S. Department of Education for captioning of this groundbreaking program.

And BOSTON PUBLIC, from FOX, has returned for a new season with description. This series airs on Friday evenings at 9PM (EST), and the description is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

Closed captioning and description of all films provided by the Media Access Group at WGBH, a nonprofit division of Boston public broadcaster WGBH.  The Rear Window Captioning and DVS Theatrical systems were developed by WGBH to make feature films accessible the date films open in theaters nationwide— and during regular showtimes— to movie fans who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, blind or visually impaired.

For more information on the WGBH's Motion Picture Access (MoPix) efforts, including how to encourage a theater in your area to install the access systems, please visit www.mopix.org, e-mail access@wgbh.org or call 617 300-3400 v, 617 300-2489 TTY.

Thanks to AMC Theatres, Crown Theatres, Cleaview Cinemas, Famous Players, Loews Cineplex, Mann Theatres, and National Amusements Theatres, IMAX and OMNIMAX theatres, Disney themeparks, Busch Gardens Adventure Parks, SeaWorld, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology/MIT the Hollywood studios and to all the movie fans out there.
