Bobcats build momentumn

Iowa School for the Deaf got some momentum for themselves going into the upcoming Great Plains Conference Tournament this weekend, defeating the Malvern JV 25-16 25-21 18-25 25-13 in prep volleyball action Monday night at the Lied Center.

The Bobcats were led by the hitting-setting combo of Katie Romey and Jada Hart.

Romey finished with 10 kills, five blocks, and four digs. Hart had 23 set assists and was 30-of-32 serving with seven aces.

Erin Huntrods came off the bench to give the Bobcats a huge boost, going 10-for-11 on serves with two aces. Cassandra Case chipped in with a well-rounded game, collecting five digs, four kills, and two set assisting.

"It was a team effort," said Iowa Deaf coach Karen Lechner, "All nine of our girls contributed to the win."

The Great Plains Tournament starts this Friday at the Minnesota School for the Deaf in Fairbault, Minn.
