Police Recover Wheelchair Taken In Robbery
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A wheelchair taken from a deaf and mute woman during a mugging Thursday was found, police said.
Police told 44-year-old Patricia Morton that while the four suspects in the mugging remain at large, they recovered her wheelchair.
"They told us that it was found on Park Avenue," said the woman's translator, Roxanne Arroyo. "The right-front wheel was broke. And the leg rests on both sides were broke too."
Morton was left stranded and immobilized on Atlantic Street for two hours late Thursday night. She was found lying on the side of the road by a passerby who called police.
She told police she was attacked by four muggers who robbed her at gunpoint of $40, a ring and her wheelchair.
Police continue to investigate.
