Gallaudet's Department of Business to Honor CSD.

Washington, DC – CSD (Communication Service for the Deaf) will be honored as this year's Outstanding Business Organization by Gallaudet University's Department of Business (DOB) at its "Business After Hours" event on November 13, 2003 at noon in the Student Union Building.

Business After Hours was established three years ago to provide promising young entrepreneurs with hands-on-experiences by inviting business organizations to the campus to permit students to interact, learn, and discuss with CEO's what it takes to become self-employed. Business After Hours was the brainchild of assistant professor Bernard Brown who operated a successful and profitable construction business. "I want our students to get first-hand knowledge on entrepreneurship and this can only be accomplished having them interact with business leaders in the community," said Brown.

This year, Business After Hours will honor CSD of Sioux Falls, SD. CSD is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing broad-based services, ensuring public accessibility and increasing public awareness of issues affecting deaf and hard of hearing individuals. CSD provides direct assistance to deaf and hard of hearing individuals in six basic areas–human services, relay, interpreting, communications technology, media and community relations, and training and development.

Karl Ewan, Consumer Relations Manager for CSD of Metro Washington will accept the award on behalf of Benjamin Soukup, chief executive officer of CSD.
