BR woman gets 'Extreme Makeover'

From: Baton Rouge Advocate, LA - Jan 7, 2004

By Newsfeatures staff A Baton Rouge woman will not only get a nip and a tuck on tonight's "Extreme Makeover" on ABC, but also the chance at improved hearing.

Cynthia Lunceford, a 49-year-old mother of three, has congenital nerve deafness and has lived with severe hearing loss since birth.

She mastered lip reading, but in the past few years her sight has deteriorated, impairing her ability to communicate.

In tonight's program, Lunceford will become the first person in the United States to receive Widex Diva hearing aids, a new, digital hearing device.

She will also undergo a facelift, browlift, upper and lower eyelid lift, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, light erbium resufacing, V-beam laser, Lasik eye surgery and dental work.

Lunceford applied for "Extreme Makeover" at a casting call in Baton Rouge in August.

The show will air at 8 p.m. on WBRZ-TV, Cox cable channel 5, and on KATC-TV in Lafayette.
