Crescent City sweeps FSDB
From: Palatka Daily News, FL - Jan 15, 2004
It's been a struggle to get to the .500 mark for the Crescent City High School boys basketball team.
On Wednesday night, the Raiders got there.
With Dexter Clark scoring 16 points and Cordae Mungin collecting 15 points and 12 rebounds, the Raiders pounded visiting Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, 64-24, in a District 8-2A game.
With the victory, the Raiders improved to 5-5 for the season. They are 2-0 in the district.
"It's a good feeling," Raiders coach Al Carter said. "We've been trying to claw to get out of the hole we've dug for ourselves. I think after we beat Father Lopez (74-62 on Friday night), it gave this team a lot of confidence because it was a big win."
Mungin scored nine points, while Clark had six points in the first quarter when the Raiders took a 26-2 lead after the first eight minutes.
Chris Robinson added 10 points for the Raiders.
Girls Basketball
n Ashley Pates had her second straight 18-point performance in leading visiting Crescent City to a 42-22 District 8-2A victory over Florida D&B of St. Augustine.

Pates had 13 points for the game.
Kendra Gillespie had nine points and five rebounds, while Shree Johnson had seven points and three steals for the Raiders.
