DEAF DRIVER DIDN'T HEAR CAR SMASH
From: Glasgow Daily Record, UK - Jan 20, 2004
AN 81-year-old driver crashed into a parked car then drove off because her hearing aid wasn't switched on and she hadn't heard the smash.
But Adela Dunnett avoided a ban after a court heard that a driving instructor had given her seven hours of lessons to help her brush upon her skills.
At Perth Sheriff Court yesterday, Dunnett admitted failing to stop or report an accident.
The driver of the other car felt the bump and then saw Dunnett, of Caledonian Crescent, Auchterarder, drive off last September.
Sheriff Michael Fletcher imposed eight penalty points and fined her a total of £200.
