Dugan hearing-loss talk set for Monday

ITHACA -- Marcia Dugan, former president of a national advocacy group for the hard of hearing, will talk about her book, "Living with Hearing Loss," late next month at Ithaca College.

Dugan's talk will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monday in William Hall Room 323, on the Ithaca College campus.

Dugan, who lives in Penn Yan, served on the national board of Trustees of Self Help for Hard of Hearing People (SHHH) from 1991 to 2000, and was president from 1996-98. She has a binatural hearing loss and uses an eclectic approach to enhance communication including, hearing aids, speech, assistive technology and sign language.

People who are hard of hearing, and their friends and family, can learn all they need to know about hearing loss in Dugan's easy-to-read guide. Newly updated and revised, this book takes the reader from A to Z on the kinds and causes of hearing loss and its common signs.

Dugan's talk, free and open to the public, will be hearing accessible with captions.
