From: PRNewswire (press release) - Jan 15, 2004

EVANSVILLE, Ind., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Energy Systems Group, LLC and the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind enter into an agreement that will dramatically improve energy effectiveness, comfort and self-sufficiency at the campus in Staunton, Virginia.

In a first application of its kind in the Commonwealth of Virginia under the new Energy Performance and Water Management Contracting Services standards, ESG will provide a package of energy technology applications to improve steam, hot water, lighting, and energy management services to the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind. "We are very proud to have coordinated an effort with several parties to provide a unique solution that enables the staff of Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind to feel secure that their energy needs will be met for many years to come," said Russ Nelson, Branch Manager of the Johnson City office that will provide the team to manage this project.

The $1.9 million dollar project will include replacing old energy infrastructure with new equipment, reducing the school's dependence upon external sources for steam and hot water and increasing the overall comfort to the students and staff. Dr. Nancy Armstrong, the Superintendent at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind also mentioned, "This project will do several things for the school: it will produce an energy savings over time, it will provide us with a reliable and more controlled heating system, it will be easier to project an accurate budget since we will not be faced with an unknown infrastructure and it will improve lighting in the classrooms and dormitories."

This project will take 9 months to complete and will improve campus energy operations from administration to classrooms. Jim Adams, President of ESG added, "It is wonderful to have such a great public and private sector partnership, using an innovative Virginia process, to increase energy reliability and self-sufficiency to enable the staff to focus on their mission to educate our future leaders."
