Del. School for the Deaf takes title

ROMNEY, W. Va. -- Dante Hudson scored 29 points as Delaware School for the Deaf won its second straight Eastern School for the Deaf Athletic Association Division II Girls Tournament championship by edging Austine (Vt.) School for the Deaf 50-48 in the finals on Saturday.

Hudson, who was forced to sit out much of the second quarter with three fouls, took over in the second half and scored the winning basket off an offensive rebound in the final seconds.

Delaware School for the Deaf beat Scranton State School for the Deaf 54-26 and Rhode Island School for the Deaf 42-27 to reach the title game in the event hosted by West Virginia School for the Deaf.

Hudson and teammate Danielle Franks were named to the tournament All-Star team.
