Week of Feb 27-March 4

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST
Description of this film has been completed. We must acknowledge all the people who contacted either WGBH, this films distributor, Newmarket Films and or Mel Gibson's production company, Icon Productions to request The Passion of the Christ be made accessible to people who are blind or visually impaired. The message was delivered and as a result, the film is now described.

The disk containing the descriptive narration data should arrive at MoPix-equipped theaters on Monday, March 1. As always, it is up to theater chains or local theater management to schedule films within a theater complex. We have information from select theaters about schedules for The Passion of the Christ showings in auditoriums equipped with DVS Theatrical from Monday onward. As other information comes to us, we will post it on the MoPix site (www.mopix.org), and may also do a special mid-week update next week if information from a good many theaters is available. Please note, the phone numbers listed with each theater location below are the voice numbers for the theaters, not an automated answering system.

To head folks off at the next pass... we have not received word yet as to whether the description created for this film will travel to home video and DVD releases as well. If you'd like to advocate for this next step, you can write to us at access@wgbh.org and we'll be sure to pass along requests we receive to those that are making decisions about this issue when the time right.

Three new D.C. area MoPix locations will be switching on their movie access systems shortly. Good news for patient movie fans in one of the nation's most populated areas. The locations are:
