Boyle girls advance in 45th District

STANFORD - The Boyle County girls advanced to the semifinals of the 45th District Tournament with a 96-15 victory Monday over Kentucky School for the Deaf in the first-round game at Lincoln County.
Stephanie Elks scored 15 points to lead fourth-seeded Boyle (20-7), which will play No. 1 seed Danville in a semifinal Wednesday.
Fifteen players scored for the Lady Rebels, who won handily thanks to 43 turnovers by fifth-seeded KSD (7-20).
Boyle shot 40.8 percent (38-for-93) from the field and was 14-for-36 from 3-point range and 6-for-15 at the free-throw line.
The Lady Rebels also outrebounded KSD 51-28, and their total included 29 offensive turnovers.
KSD shot 15.1 percent (5-for-33) from the field, and the Colonels were 0-for-8 from 3-point range and 5-for-17 at the line.
In the boys first-round game, fourth-seeded Casey County defeated KSD 82-29 to advance to the semifinals.
With the win over fifth-seeded KSD (8-17), Casey (8-19) earned a game against host Lincoln County on Wednesday.
