Deaf Expo East Patrons to Enjoy Two-Day Event

Based On Successful Show On West Coast Now In Its 12th Year

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Over 70 exhibits have been confirmed at DEAF EXPO 2004 East scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 7-8th at Fort Washington Expo Center, a 30-minute drive from downtown Philadelphia. Three thousand people are expected to attend DEAF EXPO™'s second show on the East Coast.

Utilizing the successful Friday-Saturday format as the California show, group discounts are offered on the first day. Deaf and hearing students from schools and universities will partake in specialized programming including the "DEAF$aire" game show, a Sign Language Playhouse and Seminars program. The show, sponsored by Sprint Relay and GoAmerica (as the exclusive wireless service), provides a wide variety of exhibits covering education, finance, giftware, health, human resources, publications, recreation, religion and technology.

The festivities over both show days include appearance of TOYS Theater at Sprint Relay booth, the "Deaf Eye for a Hearing Person" game show on the Deaf World Stage and Teenage Block for deaf and hearing teenagers. Evening events at Fort Washington Expo Center's Washington Room include performance by "Rathskellar", an energy-filled visual theater exploring the arts in ASL and deaf culture on Friday evening and "No Talking Allowed" making its debut on the east coast during Deaf Expo Cinema on Saturday evening.

There will be video relay demonstrations, text pagers, seminars and technology forum, Deaf Art Show and hourly door prize drawings. This show is open to the general public and many program activities are voice-interpreted to enable family members, associates and professionals in the field, as well as business and agency representatives to participate.

Deaf Expo™ is regarded as the largest consumer trade show targeted at the deaf and hard of hearing market. Show hours are Friday, May 7th from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday, May 8th from 9 a.m.-6 p.m..
