April 27, 2004 - SOUTHAVEN, Miss.—The Grand Krewe of RaMet's 3rd Annual Charity Golf Outing this Saturday will benefit the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf, which helps deaf children learn to hear with the use of hearing aids or cochlear implants while preparing them for mainstream school and living.

The four-ball scramble tournament will be at noon, May 1, at the Memphis National Golf Club in Collierville. The $85 entry fee covers green fees, cart fees, complementary beer, free food provided by Lenny's Sub Shop in Collierville, and a Hole-in-One contest to win a 2004 Pontiac Grand-Am provided by Homer Skelton Pontiac/GMC in Collierville and other prizes and gifts.

"I love to play golf," Memphis RiverKings team captain Don Parsons said, who started a goals-for-charity program to benefit the school two seasons ago. "It's one of the most relaxing and freeing things to do in the whole world. It's even better when I know that I am helping raise money to go to a good cause.

"In this case, it's three times as nice because of what the Memphis Oral School means to me and my family. Two years ago, my daughter couldn't hear me tell her I loved her, but today she can hear me and respond back. That is a gift we would never have had if we had not met the people at the Oral School."

Additional sponsors are F&R Printing, the RiverKings, Sandy and Jim Gehringer, Master Design Salon, Brenda and Richard Jabbour, and Memphis Physicians Radiology Group.

To register to play or for sponsorship information, contact Jim Gehringer, Golf Chairman at 901-854-0154 or Kathy Smith at MOSD 901-448-8490.
