ARTWORK BY DEAF ARTISTS TO BE SOLD ON EBAY
Paintings, Photographs, Prints and More Provide a Unique Opportunity to Acquire Art
ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A collection of artwork by deaf and hard-of-hearing artists will be auctioned on ebay during an eight-week period beginning Sunday, May 16.
The artworks, acquired by Deaf Artists of America during its 10-year existence (1985-95), have been in storage since the organization became inactive. It is time for these artworks to see the light of day again and find new homes in the art-loving community.
Proceeds will be used to establish a permanent archival home on the Internet for DAA. The organization amassed a wealth of information over 10 years, and the goal is to put the information on the Web for researchers, historians and others to view.
Art lovers are invited to view the selections and bid on the artworks that appeal to them. It is a great opportunity to add new life to the walls of your home and office. Each week, a new group of about 8-12 artworks will be put up for sale, including paintings, prints, photographs, posters, and other items by some of America's best-known deaf and hard-of-hearing artists.
Just go to www.ebay.com and type in the search box DEAF ARTISTS AMERICA. Each item will begin with these words. You will be taken to a page showing the items for sale and can then click on an item for more information.
If you've never used ebay before, this is a terrific opportunity to learn more about online auctions. Each item has a starting bid. You enter the amount you are willing to pay, and when the auction ends after one week the highest bidder wins the item. You need to register to use ebay, but it's fast, easy and free.
The first selection of artworks will be posted on Sunday, May 16, with a new collection appearing each Sunday over the next eight weeks. Check ebay each week for the latest selections from the DAA collection.
