Ginger gets new chance at life

From: Wodonga Border Mail, Australia - Jul 2, 2004

GINGER the deaf whippet cross red heeler pup has found someone to love her.

A kind-hearted Yackandandah woman has saved the podgy 11-week-old white, brown and ginger pup from death row just in the nick of time.

Ginger, born deaf and rejected by her mother, looked set to be put down until owner Mrs Amanda Duncan-Strelec made a public appeal for a loving home for the affectionate dog.

"Its good news, we had a number of people ring up wanting her and about six calls offering us advice," Mrs Duncan-Strelec said.

Mrs Duncan-Strelec said Gingers home was chosen because the Yackandandah woman already had an adult whippet and an adult heeler who would act as companions to the little dog.
