Police Catch Up To Sex Offender
From: Winnipeg Sun, Canada - Jul 2, 2004
A high-risk sex offender who was convicted in 2000 of raping a disabled woman is off the street.
Police issued a province-wide warrant for Vincent Stone McLeod, 36, when they were unable to locate him. McLeod was to be monitored and supervised by probation services and the Winnipeg police high-risk offender unit following his prison release in May.
He was arrested outside a police station on Portage Avenue last night.
McLeod served a four-year sentence for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old deaf-mute woman near the downtown Winnipeg Bay store in a random attack, police said.
McLeod was taken to the provincial Remand Centre last night where he was to remain in custody, police said.
