American Sign Language classes offered

From: Newport News Times, OR - Sept 8, 2004

Oregon Coast Community College is offering "American Sign Language" during fall term.

Instructor Linda Capshaw will teach two classes - one on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 7:50 p.m., and the other on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 2:20 p.m. (the hours of the latter class differ from those printed in the fall schedule).

The first class meetings are set for Sept. 28.

The course introduces American Sign Language and the culture and diversity of the deaf community; and covers the study and application of ASL vocabulary and grammar to real-life situations.

Persons interested in taking the course for personal enrichment and not to receive grades or credits may audit the class upon consent of the instructor.

Fall term begins Sept. 27 and class registration is underway. For more information about classes and the audit process, visit any Oregon Coast Community College campus or call 265-2283.
