Disability Rights Commission sued over disability discrimination
From: PersonnelToday.com, UK - Sep 28, 2004
The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) is being sued for alleged disability discrimination by one of its own workers, reports the Times.
The newspaper reported that David Sindall, who is profoundly deaf, is taking DRC chairman Bert Massie and five other senior staff to an employment tribunal in December.
Sindall alleges that he was sidelined and demoted from the job he had held for four years which, in turn, damaged his reputation and harmed his future career prospects.
The case will be heard by Leeds Employment Tribunal and comes ahead of new disability discrimination laws that come into effect this Friday.
The DRC said it would not comment ahead of the tribunal hearing.
