Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind evacuates
From: St. Augustine Record, FL - Sep 1, 2004
The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind is evacuating the dormitories as Hurricane Frances moves closer, officials said. South Florida students leave today. Other students will be sent home Thursday.
Classes are expected to return to normal Tuesday, said Kathy Gillespie, the school's public information officer.
Parents should expect the buses to take the children back Monday, Gillespie said.
However, parents are encouraged to stay in contact with the campus for updates on the school's Web site, www.fsdb.k12.fl.us .
Sports activities have been cancelled from Thursday to Monday, Gillespie said.
Friday is expected to be a normal work day for teachers and staff, Gillespie said.
